Restart your mobile phone

To turn your mobile phone off and back on again, follow these steps.

iPhone X or later

1. Press and hold either one of the volume buttons and the side button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

iPhone 8 or earlier

1. Press and hold the side (or top) power button until the slider appears on screen.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Android

There are many Android versions, but these steps apply to most Android phones:

1. Press and hold the power button (on the side or top of the phone) until a prompt appears with options to Power off or Restart.
2. Select Power off.
3. Once the phone is turned off, press and hold the power button again until the phone turns back on.

Android Alternative Method

1. Press and hold the power button (it may be on the side or the top) and the lower volume button until a prompt comes up on the screen giving you options to Power Off or Restart.
2. Select Power Off.
3. Once the phone is off, press and hold the power button again until the phone powers back on.
