It’s easy to switch from a physical SIM to eSIM on your existing Fido line.
How to switch from a physical SIM to eSIM
Switch to eSIM using My Account App
Note: if you have an Android device, switch to eSIM using the My Account Portal.
Switch to an eSIM using a Voucher
- Sign in to your My Account App.
- From the Phone tab, select Change SIM.
- Click on the phone number that you wish to switch to eSIM. We’ll send a verification code to this number.
- Enter the verification code you received and select Confirm code.
- Select Physical SIM or eSIM Voucher.
- Enter the 20-digit number on the back of your eSIM voucher then select Continue.
- Review the details that appear then select Submit.
- A message will appear confirming that you want to switch to eSIM. Select Continue to move to the last step.
- A confirmation will appear to let you know that your SIM has been changed. Restart your device to activate your eSIM.
Switch to an eSIM directly on your device
- Sign in to your My Account App.
- From the Phone tab, select Change SIM.
- Click on the phone number that you wish to switch to eSIM. We’ll send a verification code to this number.
- Enter the verification code you received and select Confirm code.
- Select This Device.
- Connect your device to WiFi, then select Download eSIM.
- You’ll need to install your eSIM before you can switch to it from your physical SIM. Click Activate eSIM then, Continue and follow the instructions on your device.
- Once you’re done, you’ll be redirected to the Download eSIM screen. A message confirming that your download was successful will appear. Select Dismiss.
- Tap the toggle beside I’ve successfully downloaded my eSIM to my device then, select Continue.
- Review the details that appear then click Submit.
- A message will appear confirming that you wish to continue. Select Submit to switch to eSIM.
- A confirmation will appear to let you know that your SIM has been changed. Restart your device to activate your eSIM.
Transfer an eSIM to another device
Make sure you have the device you’d like to activate the eSIM on with you when using the steps below.
- Sign in to your My Account App.
- From the Phone tab, select Change SIM.
- Click on the phone number that you wish to switch to eSIM. We’ll send a verification code to this number.
- Enter the verification code you received and select Confirm code.
- Select Transfer to another device. A QR code will be generated.
- Scan the QR code using the device you want to switch to eSIM. Follow the instructions that appear to install eSIM on the device.
- Once complete, tap the toggle beside I’ve successfully scanned the QR code with my other device.
- Review the details that appear then click Submit.
- A message will appear confirming that you wish to continue. Select Submit to switch to eSIM.
- A confirmation will appear to let you know that your SIM has been changed. Restart your device to activate your eSIM.
Switch to eSIM using My Account Portal (online)
- Sign in to your My Account account.
- From the Overview tab, select Manage beside the line that you’d like to switch.
- From the Device financing payment section, select Manage SIM. The Change SIM screen will appear.
- Select Change SIM. We’ll send a verification code to the number that you’ve selected.
- Enter the verification code you received on your device.
- Under Enter your new SIM card details, select eSIM, then Continue.
- From Change to eSIM, select Scan QR code to generate a QR code on screen or Enter a new eSIM number to enter the number of an eSIM Voucher.
- Scan the QR code successfully then select Continue. Note: if you select continue before scanning the QR code, your device will stop working and you’ll need to contact us for help.
- Review the details then select Proceed to confirmation.
- Restart your device then select Done to activate your eSIM.
