Fido allows you to transfer your services to someone else who is interested in taking the responsibility of your services. Your account balance must be current for the transfer to be allowed.
Monthly Service
Fido customers wanting to transfer phone and services to someone else
Things to Know
- The person who wants to take your Fido Service will need to call Customer Service by calling 6-1-1 free of charge from a Fido phone (or 1-888-481-3436 from another phone).
- Your Fido Service and phone number will remain under your name until the transfer is completed, and you’ll be responsible for any charges incurred until then.
- If the interested person does not have a Fido account yet, they must open an account at the moment they contact Fido.
- Your final invoice will be prorated based on the amount of days you had the service. Learn more about your final bill.
If you want to give your Fido phone and also transfer your Fido Service (phone number, plan and Fido Agreement, if applicable) you must:
- Call 6-1-1 free of charge from your Fido phone (or 1-888-481-3436 from another phone).
- Ask the customer service representative to indicate in your account the name of the person you want to transfer your service to.
Taking ownership of an existing Fido Service
Things to Know
- You must be of legal age and undergo a credit evaluation.
- By taking over the responsibility of someone else’s account, you will have to pay the Early Cancellation Fees (ECF) or Device Savings Recovery Fees (DSRF) if applicable, should you decide to cancel before the Fido Agreement end date.
- If the previous account holder had Voice Messaging, then all saved messages, greeting messages, voice signatures and access codes will be lost and automatically reinitialized. For the Name Display service, there is a delay of up to 24 hours before the new account holder’s name appears on outgoing calls.
- Your first invoice will be prorated based on the number of days you have until the end of your bill cycle. Learn more about your first bill.
- If you don't have a Fido account yet, you must open an account at the moment you contact Fido.
To take ownership of someone else’s phone and Fido Service (phone number, plan and Fido Agreement if applicable) you must:
- Ask the Fido account owner to call 6-1-1 free of charge from a Fido phone (or 1-888-481-3436 from another phone) and ask the customer service representative to indicate in the account that he or she wants to transfer ownership of the Fido Service and phone to you.
- The current owner will need to provide your full name.
- You’ll then need to call customer service and ask the representative to complete the transfer to you.
Prepaid service

- The person who wants to take your Fido Service will need to contact Customer Service by calling 6-1-1 free of charge from a Fido phone (or 1-888-482-3436 from another phone).
- Your Fido service and phone number will remain under your name until the transfer is completed, and you’ll be responsible for any charges incurred until then.
- Any remaining balance or remaining minutes will be transferred to the person taking ownership of your prepaid service.
- If you have voicemail, it will not be reset. Make sure to delete any messages that you do not wish to keep.
If you want to give your Fido phone and also transfer your Fido Service service (phone number, plan) you must:
- Call 6-1-1 free of charge from your Fido phone (or 1-888-482-3436 from another phone).
- Ask the customer service representative to indicate in your account the name of the person you want to transfer your service to.
